La deuxième guerre mondiale ayant provoqué une pénurie des matériaux de construction, et afin de pallier au manque de fer, l’architecte réalise une maison type avec des matériaux locaux. C’est donc une conception simplifiée par rapport au projet initial qui prend forme. La majorité des 368 logements comportent une seule pièce. Seuls, les logements réservés aux agents de maîtrise possédaient deux pièces. Bien que la cité n’ait jamais été aboutie par rapport au programme initial, c’est aujourd’hui un petit quartier cohérent avec son propre fonctionnement. Depuis peu, des habitants ont fait l’acquisition de leur logement. Cette cité est également connue sous le nom de Socica. Un tel recensement permet de comparer les démarches employées tant par les historiens que par les praticiens, leurs évolutions et ruptures dans le temps. Ainsi est constitué un recueil d’information sur la manière de faire l’histoire de l’architecture et de la ville. La confrontation des neuf bilans nationaux éclaire tant les spécificités que les traits communs de ce foyer de culture qu’est le bassin méditerranéen.
